One way we connect with people is through English Conversation Club. Tonight's theme is Friendship.

We'll open with these questions:

  1. Describe a friend you have known in your life.
  2. What makes a good friend?
  3. Why are friends important?
  4. Why do some friendships end?
  5. Why do some friendships last?

We'll discuss these quotes:

A true friend never gets in your way unless you happen to be going down.

— Arnold H. Glasow

Walking with a friend in the dark is better than walking alone in the light.

— Helen Keller

The friend who can be silent with us in a moment of despair or confusion, who can stay with us in an hour of grief and bereavement, who can tolerate not knowing… not healing, not curing… that is a friend who cares.

— Henri Nouwen

A friend to all is a friend to none.

— Aristotle

It is one of the blessings of old friends that you can afford to be stupid with them.

— Ralph Waldo Emerson

Don't walk behind me; I may not lead. Don't walk in front of me; I may not follow. Just walk beside me and be my friend.

— Albert Camus

Friendship is born at that moment when one person says to another: What! You too? I thought I was the only one.

— C.S. Lewis

There is nothing better than a friend, unless it is a friend with chocolate.

— Linda Grayson

We'll be Friends Forever, won't we, Pooh?' asked Piglet.

Even longer,' Pooh answered.

— A.A. Milne, Winnie-the-Pooh

We'll finish with this Discovery Bible Study: John 15:9-17

  1. Retell Jesus’ teaching in your own words.
  2. What do you like?
  3. What do you learn about God, or Jesus?
  4. What do you learn about people?
  5. What does this story teach us to do?
  6. What will you do this week to apply what you have learned?
  7. With whom could you share this story?
  8. How can we pray for you?
That's how we connect and find people who want to learn more about following Jesus.
